Your first step is meeting with our medical team.
We’ll review your health history, current substance use, and any medications you're taking to make sure methadone is safe and appropriate for you. This is a key part of building an addiction treatment plan that works with your body and supports long-term recovery.
Next, you’ll meet with one of our licensed counselors.
This is your opportunity to discuss your personal history, challenges, and goals. Together, you’ll create a customized plan that outlines both your methadone schedule and your support needs, like therapy, case management, or referrals.
As part of the intake, we’ll request a urine drug screen; that’s standard across all programs.
Within your first two weeks, you’ll also complete a basic physical exam, TB test, and lab work so we have a full picture of your health. These steps help us care for your whole self, not just your symptoms.

According to the law, patients must receive methadone under the supervision of a physician at an Opioid Treatment Program certified by the government.
Individual counseling is part of the treatment options for substance abuse at our methadone clinic in Hoffman Estates.
You’ll work one-on-one with a counselor to explore what brought you here, what you’ve been through, and where you want to go.
In group sessions, you’ll connect with others who are walking a similar path.
You’ll explore real-life skills: from managing stress and emotions to building healthier habits and relationships, all in a space that’s grounded in empathy and shared experience.
