How Treatment Works At Revive Treatment Centers

A clear path. A supportive team. A process you can trust.

A Simple-to-Follow Methadone Treatment Process

Many people come to us feeling unsure about how methadone treatment works or what will happen on their first day. It can be hard to make a decision when the process feels unfamiliar.

At Revive Treatment Centers, our priority is for you to feel comfortable and safe, because only then can the healing start. We are here to listen and understand where you’ve been, see what you need right now, and help you build a safe, prosperous, addiction-free future.

Part One: Your Intake Assessment

A thorough, respectful evaluation that sets you up for a successful recovery.

What Happens at My First Appointment?

Your treatment begins with a complete medical and wellness assessment to determine the safest way to begin methadone treatment and tailor the dosage to your situation.

Medical History & Health Review

To help us decide whether methadone is the right treatment for you, a clinician will review your health background, current symptoms, substance use history, medications, and any concerns you have.

Treatment Planning

Using all of the information we gather, the physician will establish your starting dose and outline your initial treatment schedule. You’ll also have space to ask questions and talk through expectations.

Baseline Screening

To ensure precise dosing, you’ll undergo a health check, including blood and/or urine tests. These results help establish a clear baseline, allowing treatment to be tailored to your individual needs and monitored accurately over time.

Preparing for the First Dose

Before your initial session, you’ll hear how dosing works, how long methadone typically lasts in the body, and what it will feel like during and after treatment. Most first appointments last about 1-2 hours, though the exact time varies

Part Two: Your Methadone Treatment Program

A supportive routine that restores stability one day at a time.

How Dosing Works at Revive

Methadone is a long-acting medication. One dose usually remains effective for 24 to 36 hours, which is why methadone treatment generally follows a once-a-day schedule.

Because methadone is a controlled medication, most people begin treatment by coming to the clinic daily. This ensures your safety while the dose is being adjusted and helps us track your progress in the early stages.

As treatment continues, many patients qualify for take-home doses. This depends on several factors: consistency with visits, stability on your current dose, and your overall treatment plan. If travel or transportation is difficult for you, we’ll work with you on other options.

What Each Visit Looks Like

1)  Check-In and Monitoring

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by our staff, who will make sure you’re well enough for your dose.

2)  Receiving Your Medication

At Revive Treatment Centers, we provide the methadone doses in liquid form. This allows for precise measurement and controlled dosing. To make sure your program is going as planned, as well as to keep you safe, a trained staff member will be on hand documenting your daily dose as you take it.

3)  Support Along the Way

Your counselor and care team stay connected with you throughout your program. Group and individual counseling are a core part of the treatment to help you manage challenges, strengthen coping skills, and build long-term stability.

Your Treatment Timeline

While every plan is customized, most patients follow a general progression:

Weeks 1–3

Stabilization

You come in daily as we monitor your dose, check how your body responds, and adjust when needed.

Weeks 4–6

Optimization

This is when symptoms usually begin to settle. At this point, the dose becomes more consistent, and you will likely feel much more stable.

After Stabilization

Take-Home Eligibility

Some patients transition to take-home doses once they meet federal and clinic-level safety guidelines.
